Silverstream Planting Day 2026!

Wow, what a day.

Over 70 of our community showed up planting over 900 plants.

The day started foggy, with Richard welcoming the community, and Mike zipping through health and safety briefing before Eva did a planting tutorial.

Everyone sprung into action, working for two hours and planting over 900 plants. Such an awesome effort.

With our lack of rain recently, we also had the self proclaimed ‘TFWB’ (Team Fill Water Bottles) filling milk bottles with water so each plant could get a healthy drink to start their life.

Shirley, Anne and Dick were manning the BBQ and the morning tea stand, and our other regular volunteers could be found spread amongst the community helping planting, laying out all of the equipment, and collecting pots.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made this day possible. From the background work done by the Waimakariri District Council, to the loyal volunteers who arrived at the crack of dawn to help with the set up.
